Thursday, April 12, 2018 – Catering establishments, (medical) cabinets with a waiting room, tire centers, office environments regularly welcoming customers – all can now offer Wi-Fi in a simple and secure way to their visitors. To this end, Telenet is launching ‘Wi-Fi Business’, with which a specific and secure Wi-Fi signal is provided to customers and visitors of the company in question.
A survey [1] showed that 70% of visitors to hotels and restaurants give preference to those with a good Wi-Fi connection. Being able to quickly and easily connect to the café or restaurant, but also in the waiting room at the dentist’s, the hairdresser’s, or the annual tire change is more and more considered normal. Up to 40% of homeowners say that offering Wi-Fi is in the top 3 of their priorities. Telenet wants to respond by offering its business customers a Wi-Fi product adapted to their own activities, but to which the visitors of the company in question can connect easily and securely. The Wi-Fi Business solution was developed in collaboration with customers.
Separate Signal
With ‘Wi-Fi Business’, a company can offer free WiFi in a simple and secure way to fifty customers simultaneously. The modem emits two signals: one for the owner and his collaborators, and another for his visitors or customers. As managers and their customers connect with different connection data, customers do not have access to the private part of the network, and the company’s data and systems remain carefully protected. In addition, Wi-Fi Business is perfectly in line with the new privacy guidelines that will come into effect in May 2018.
Manage Your Own Basic Settings: Personal Login Page and Password of Your Choice
The owner of the establishment can model the Wi-Fi signal via an online platform, where he can choose the desired connection method for his guests (password, via a web page or check-in via Facebook). The login page can be customized for marketing and communication purposes. For example, a restaurateur can display the menu of the day, or a doctor may indicate his annual vacation. It is also possible to monitor Wi-Fi consumption via the platform and adjust the parameters, which allows to determine the amount of bandwidth of visitors and to consult statistics on the use of Wi-Fi, the number of visitors, or the type of devices connected to the network, etc.
Martine Tempels, Head of Telenet Business: “Large companies were already able to offer Wi-Fi to their customers through specific solutions. However, customers are increasingly looking for Wi-Fi connectivity, not only in the hospitality business, but also in the dentist’s waiting room or car garage. They want a ‘plug and play’ solution. With this new product, which we have developed in collaboration with entrepreneurs, Telenet Business meets the demand of small businesses wishing to offer Wi-Fi to all their customers in a simple and secure way, without sharing their own password or losing the quality for their own connection. We also provide a convenient tool for managing basic settings without the need for extensive IT knowledge. Because at the end of the day, we want to make sure our companies have a head start in the digital economy.”
Wi-Fi Business in Practice: Wi-Fi Business is available for € 20 / month (excluding VAT) in combination with the Internet product Business Fibernet, or the product bundles FLUO and WIGO Business. The customer gets an access point for this product, a Wi-Fi booster that can be placed in a room of your choice and that extends the Wi-Fi range to other rooms or floors.
