The Broadband Forum has defined a natural evolution path for a fixed-services Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) to deliver 5G Wireless Wireline Convergence (WWC) via a 5G AGF.
The ability to use a common 5G core to deliver services to both wireless and wireline subscribers enables consistency of operations for both service providers and their customers.
For the service provider, it reduces operational complexity while also reducing capital and operational expense. It eliminates duplication of functions such as authentication, billing, network-management, and subscriber management.
For customers it ensures that services and service level agreements can be delivered and applied across mobile and fixed access delivering improved Quality of Experience (QoE).
